Waterproof and Greaseproof paper cup fan for paper cup making raw material
Product name: Waterproof and Greaseproof paper cup fan for paper cup making raw material
Food-Grade Paperboard (Cupstock): This is the base material, chosen for its strength, rigidity, and food safety. Common paper weights (GSM - grams per square meter) range from 150 GSM to 350 GSM, depending on the size and intended use of the final cup.
Barrier Coating: To make the cup leak-proof and suitable for liquids, the paperboard is laminated with a thin barrier layer. The most common coatings are:
Polyethylene (PE): A plastic coating that provides excellent water and grease resistance and enables heat sealing. It can be applied to one side (for hot cups, inside) or both sides (for cold cups, to also resist condensation).
Polylactic Acid (PLA): A bio-based and compostable alternative made from renewable resources (like corn starch). It's used for eco-friendly cups and is compostable under industrial conditions.
Aqueous/Water-based coatings: Newer, plastic-free coatings that aim to make the paper more easily recyclable in standard paper recycling streams.
Printing (Optional): If the finished paper cups require branding, logos, or designs, the coated paperboard is often flexo-printed or offset-printed with custom graphics before being cut into the fan shape. Many suppliers offer multi-color printing options.
